As I sit and try to recount my life since my last post, I can't even begin to think of where to start....or what all has happened. This spring has been a bluurrr of busy life!
SCHOOL...SCHOOL...SCHOOL... I finished my last master's class and am now wrapping up loose ends on my portfolio before I take my praxis exam to be TOTALLY done with my master's....husband continues to plug along with his master's, while working full time and coaching spring football. I admire his hard work, dedication, and lack of complaining....I'm a whining machine, while Husband never bitches, whines of exhaustion, or throws tantrums (all specialties of mine).
Both Tanner and Beau played soccer, which was new having two boys to juggle practices and games. Thankfully U-6 soccer, Beau's league, is less than competitive and more like watching someone herd cats, so I didn't feel too terrible if i missed some of his game to go catch Tanner play.
Finny's newest interest is 'tea party' playing....which is adorable and very fun....for a while. The boys both tolerated her requests to, "Play tea" a few times before they both totally lost interest. So I've discovered that if I fill her plastic tea pot with water and provide a few snacks to go along with her playing, she can play tea party for hours.
We also have two new additions to our family, our Pygmy goats Snowball and French Fry. The interest in goats began after Auntie Steph bought two adorable goats and the boys HAD to have goats too. Stephanie convinced me that goats require almost no upkeep, which sold me on the idea. Snowball and French Fry are gutless wonders who eat and eat and eat...they munched down the top of our back property in less than two weeks; we moved their pen to the side gully which they've also devoured, so tomorrow we'll move them once again to a lush grassy section of our property. At this rate we'll have every weed gone by the end of the summer...perfect!
Tanner's plan is to take his goat, Snowball, to the county fair in September....we'll see about that. At this rate both goats will be so fat they won't be able to walk.
Tanner just had his first piano recital....and carried on the long standing Sackman tradition of being somewhat musically challenged (despite daily practice and weekly lessons). He played two songs, a duet with Nick (It's A Small World) and a solo, Scampering Squirrels. I was amazed at his poise as he performed both songs in front of a crowd without being nervous. The night of his performance his best friend CJ joined us for dinner and then we went to their friend Taylor's birthday party...not the best idea as Tanner rolled in the grass, lost a button on his shirt, and ran around until he was a sweaty mess....showed up Sackman style to the recital with a room full of polished/pressed/brushed kid's and my son toting grass stains on his jeans, unbuttoned shirt, and sweat around his hairline! :) Perfect.
So this week I'll finish the school year and send my lovely bunch of 4th graders onto 5th. I've had this group of kid's for two years and I'll sincerely miss them, but I'm so ready for summer. This school year has tested every ounce of patience, understanding, and strength that I have...and not because of my kid's, but because of the adults I work with!!! HA HA!! Honestly, I work with some amazing, brilliant, and kind people but anytime a large number of people work together and spend a lot of time together there are bound to be conflicts. My goal next year is to avoid the negative and stay positive as I'm optimistic that the exciting changes coming to my school are just what we need to get back on track!!! I'd also like to master the tactic of telling someone they are an idiot while being totally nice. I work with the nicest lady who can call someone out on being a total moron in the sugary-sweetest voice and it never seems like she's being mean...Darn it, I don't have this talent.
I noticed today as I ran errands that it is Omak's Graduation. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I'm actually 31, have three kids, a husband, career, mortgage, etc. It has been 13 years since I graduated from OHS and a lot has happened...I envy those 18 year olds who are entering this next exciting chapter of their life, but I also wouldn't trade places with them for anything in the world. All of life's lessons come with time, experience, and age....if I knew then what I know now, I would have been able to make different (perhaps wiser) choices, yet the experiences and challenges I've encountered have shaped who I am and provided me with the ability to truly enjoy where I am right now.
